The graveyard pick is of a pilatatus PC-12 hauling a group on a ski trip to montanna. 14 dead including 7 kids. While is is the most tragic it is the least spectacular. The big column of flame is just a tree that caught fire. But thats the way it goes, real tragedies rarely go down like they do in the movies.
The top pick is of a NASA fuel additive test. The idea was to make jet fuel less prone to the whole ball of fire thing. The plane was flown by remote control but the approach was slightly off. Instead of landing on the center line, it landed askew and instead of poles cemented in the runway gouging open the wing fuel tanks, they ripped open the whole plane, fuselage and all. Massive fireball resulted, fuel additive put on the back burner.
The middle picture is not an actual airplane at all. Its a training mock up used by fire crew for practice. The douse these things in fuel (or most cases use nozzles spewing natural gas) then light it. They then get to have fun putting it out.
